John Stosell has been a libertarian for years as he was a reporter for years on  ABC's 20/20  as a consumer advocate reporter.  Stossell has learned through the years that government intervention makes it more difficult for the customer... basically he is a consumer reporter with a pro-freedom twist. Stossell was recently hired by the FOX Business network.

Tivo'd his show the other night and finally got around to watching it last night. It was really good. I went and tivo'd all of his shows for the next few weeks. It was on public education, and it was a fascinating show. I highly recommend him. He's not as libertarian as some of us here though. He believes competition is the best way, but he see's the government as a force to promote competition. His solution to public education was to give every kid a certain dollar amount towards their education so that they could choose which charter/private school they wanted to go too. It was an interesting approach. Meric would probably appreciate it, while others of us here might not. Its certainly better and cheaper than our current system though. Id support it. And its working in other countries.

We almost have that. Giving the same amount of funding to all schools regardless of them being public or private. (depending on the number of students they have). Yeah I support it. ^^

Hmm I found this, my 80% figure was way too optimistic
Quote:

Australia
On average, funding granted to an independent school is 47% of that required to operate a government school, the residual being made up by tuition fees paid by parents.
