What is your definition of a libertarian? What should a libertarian be for and what positions to take on important issues?

Didnt we already have a thread like this?

Basically really small government on every issue. Or at least close to.

Small government and free market conomics. Basically having the right to choose for your self as long as you do not infringe upon others.

Broadly speaking, a person who believes that individual liberty is worthwhile, and a person who believes in the loosely defined Golden Rule.

Small government isn't necessarily accurate.  I think libertarianism supports a strong government when it comes to protecting individual rights.  It's just that our government today is so huge and obtrusive that it obviously needs to be drastically reduced, and libertarians are the only ones who seem to realize it.

I usually think of libertarian as an umbrella term for anyone who generally believes in less government and more freedom. So, broadly that would include paleoconservatives, minarchists, Objectivists and anarcho-capitalists (among others).

I think Libertarianism is about self-ownership.

Everyone is entitled to their own life, their own property, and their own liberty.

Nobody may interfere with anyone else's life, property, or liberty if they are not consensual in doing so. If you are not interfering with anyone else's life, property, or liberty, then go ahead and do what you wish.

Anti-state Propertarianism. I do not count classical liberals or conservatives as libertarian. The anarchists claimed it before they did.
