One of those "Who should you vote for" polls
Jul 13th, 2010 at 7:13pm

So I decided to take one of these polls today to see who I should vote for in 2012 (has theoretical candidates).

To say the least, I was surprised by my results. I then retook it, and was ever MORE surprised at the results. I took it again, and got about what I got the first time.

It says I should vote for Ron Paul. Obvious. But in second place...Rush Limbaugh.  Apparently I agree with Ron Paul on 78% of the issues. And I agree with Rush on 74% of the issues. Newt Gringritch was in third with 69%.

When I took the poll a second time. I got John McCain as my first choice!

Our of curiosity, I want you guys to take the poll to see if its the poll, or if its me. I mean, I dont know much about Rush. Ive never listened to him. But I KNOW hes not a libertarian. And I hate John McCain and Newt.

How do you know what Rush is if you don't listen to him?

McCain expands government, nothing like a libertarian.

I know Rush is a typical republican.

And yes, i hate McCain. Thats why im so confused by the results. Im thinking they might have rated him based on what he says instead of what he does. And he might sound more libertarian than he actually is. Which actually kinda gives me hope. Maybe thats why he won the primaries? People thought he was a little more libertarian than he actually was.

I took the same poll in 2008 as well as recently for 2012. I know that the candidate I'm closest to would be Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, Gary Johnson or maybe Mark Sanford in a stretch but it put Lindsay Graham up first, then Newt Gingrich, then Obama! (Maybe because I said I supported amnesty and open borders? But that was the only place where Paul and I would differ).

I just don't think it's a very good poll, to be honest.

Yea. Im thinking the same thing. Perhaps the person who made the poll is biased or stupid.

I got ideal hypothetical candidate or whatever for 1st.

Second was a tie between Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. I would piss on Romney's grave long before I would ever vote for him and his religion based on an insane hypocrit by the name of John Smith, extending through Brigham Young, and Jeffs. Moromons are the decay of western civilization, and anyone stupid enough to believe in their horse shit, deserves a slow, painful, death. (And a 100% estate tax) lol

Ron Paul however, is an intelligent choice.

Im mormon and proud of it. In fact, in November Im going on my mission for 2 years.Im leaving for Mexico to preach my "Insane hypocritical" religion.

And his name was Joseph Smith, not John Smith. And I dont even know what you mean by "Jeffs."

Our effect on Western Culture is negligible. If anything, the church encourages people to be independent and encourages morality. Which is very much needed in this day and age. The only places where Mormons have any real influence is Utah and some parts of Idaho and Arizona.

Id appreciate it if you stopped talking about my religion. Or in fact, stop talking about anything in that way. One of the reasons the libertarian party has such a hard time growing is that everyone views us as pot smoking moral-less douche bag conspiracy theorist that hate everyone. Youre not helping with that stereotype. So even if you are 'that' stereotypical libertarian, please try and act like an intelligent human being. We dont want to scare away those intelligent human beings because we actually NEED them in the movement, where as stereotypes come a dime a dozen.

With Love,

I smell a troll...

I'll gladly stand with you, BlackSand. I am not a Mormon, but a lapsed Anglican (or Episcopalian in the USA) but I have always felt a certain fondness for the Church of Latter Day Saints. But beyond any personal affinity I may feel for the church I have always been disgusted by bigoted attacks against it or any other religious group. I remember being the only person (and a non-Mormon to boot) in a highschool politics class, defending Mitt Romney and Mormonism against overt bigotry from every pupil in attendance as well as the teacher. I disagree with Mr. Romney on pretty much everything important, if I could have voted in 2008, I wouldn't have voted for him. But I can tell you, it would not have been because of his religion, it would have been what he had stood for. Opposing Romney for being Mormon is as distainful as those who opposed JFK for being Catholic or anyone who would oppose a future president for being Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, atheist, etc.

Bigotry has no place in libertarian ideology. As Ron Paul has said, libertarians are the strongest enemies of racism and prejudice because we view people not as members of a race, religion, ethnicity, etc. but as individuals to be judged on their own merits.

P.S. "Jeffs" is Warren Jeffs, the former President of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
