Right now the U.S. population is about 320 million.  At what number should we start worrying about overpopulation?

Frankly, my dear, you can start worrying whenever you feel up to it.  Smiley

Well if there is overpopulation then no one would come into the U.S. due to low quality of life and no job opportunities (assuming a total lack of welfare). Thus the problem solves itself.

Also, look at Japan. They have a high population and as a result their population has naturally been in decline for years now, despite the government giving handouts to people who have children.  Smiley

So basically, overpopulation solves itself in the long run, thus it is NOT a concern at all. Though with welfare the amount of people that can be sustained is artificially increased to ridiculous levels.

China and India had huge populations years ago, primarily limited by the available food (even then nutritions levels are so low, that the population was / is short compared to the west).

Shouldn't we just assume, as a "christian" nation, the best in people and expect that they will come here, obey our laws and make their own way in the world?

Being christian does not mean being dumb and not seeing what is right in front of your face.

Being christian does not mean idiotically pretending every person on earth is this cherished prize that can do good if christians hold  pep rallies where they praise the good of man.

Where do people get these assumed christian practices from?

Yeah, that whole "judge not lest ye be judged" was probably a buddhist philosophy and the "do unto others" bullcrap is hinduism.  What was I thinking? Roll Eyes

You really have no idea what you are talking about when you generically used those quotes.  How does treating a person the way you would like to be treated equate to allowing a population of mexicans into the country that will destroy America as we know it?  You have to use your brain when you read those quotes, unless of course you simply have them readily available in Microsoft Word to copy and paste generically in situations when you are perverting what it says and not understanding what it means.

The bible also talks about respecting the rule of government  given the government is treating it's people justly and fair.

You must have skipped that page Roll Eyes

I must have also missed the page in the bible that said "assume all outsiders are murderers, rapists, drug dealers, lazy, smelly and stupid.  Grin

Grin How would mexicans destroy America? This is just as ridiculous as when Americans were worried about the Damned Irish coming to America and destroy the proper protestant way of life! It's just ridiculous and unfounded.

flipswitch,

I also don't agree with your statement of 'allowing a population of mexicans into the country that will destroy America as we know it'? To say that, then essentially would get at that we should lock up our borders, not allow anyone to visit, and only US citizens can prosper when US citizens are working. That's completely absurd and completely false statement.

I agree, the ways in which folks illegally migrating from Mexico and other bordering countries is completely wrong, it doesn't mean it's going to destroy America. What's going to destroy America is having to pay for them out of our tax dollars, that's going to destroy us. It's not because of them, it's because of the broken system that we have implemented.

I would suggest re-phrasing your statement because it doesn't make any sense and it is completely wrong.
