Clearly, we have a long way to go.  Sad

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton aren't helping matters either.  They've just made careers for themselves bitching about the problems.

There is a lot plaguing black communities across the country and racism is hardly the main problem despite what Al or Jesse have to say.

Whatever their potential, they're not living up to it because the Left encourages their continued victimhood.

Unbiased, your stats are sorely missing a crucial bit - numbers from 1963!  Without the ability to compare the health of black America today with that of 50 years ago, your statistics totally lack any context.

The below NPR article (while annoyingly harping on a few liberal pet projects, like raising the national minimum wage) fills in a few of the gaps:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/codeswitch/2013/08/24/214959748/did-the-march-on-washin...

The article shows that while blacks in 2013 lag whites in terms of educational achievement, blacks in 2013 absolutely crush (in a good way) blacks of 1963 in terms of education.  That's definitely real progress.

The article also points out areas of stagnation: for example, that the unemployment rate among blacks has remained unchanged for the past 50 years and that this rate is significantly higher than the white unemployment rate.  So what gives?  And what else needs to change?
