In light of statements in regards to the Commission on Presidential Debates such as “a fraud on the American voter” and “The debate commission is a corrupt duopoly.”, Free and Equal Elections Foundation hosted the 2012 “3rd Party” Presidential debates that were moderated by Larry King and Thom Hartmann and viewed by an estimated 20 million people.

A number of us who worked with Free & Equal last year have even bigger plans moving forward. We believe that with laying the groundwork down now, we can create debates that are viewed by far more than 20 million people and really help restore honest presidential debates in America.

Our 4 point plan to restore open and honest debates in 2016 and let alternative voices and ideas be heard can be found at

Viva la r3volution!

“In dictatorships, it’s common for political insiders to hinder or even silence non-establishment challengers. To do that in America, which supposedly champions open elections, is outrageous and intolerable. But that is just what the Commission on Presidential Debates has done.”

I'm personally an advocate of Presidential Debates where any candidate on the ballot in enough states to mathmatically win the electoral college vote shoud be invited to participate but a problem exists.

The Republican and Democratic nominees are simply going to refuse to accept the invitation to participate and will still hold their own presidential debates. Americans will still watch the Republican/Democratic debate and predominately ignore the "third-party" debates.

Remember that Romney and Obama were invited to the 2012 debate that included third-party candidates and simply ignored the invitation. That isn't likely to change no matter what we do. We can't force them to participate.
