I don't get why "equality" is even considered a good thing. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but why do people care about it so much? Two things being equal in some way doesn't have a positive tone to it at all.

Lolz @ "not necessarily a bad thing." Equality is inherently antithetical to the nature of man. Individuals are inequal and different.

Well we are equal in some ways and unequal in others. "Equality" or "inequality" by itself is neither a positive nor a negative thing. Of course, complete equality in everything would be misery as well as impossible.

No one is "equal" in anything. It's literally impossible by virtue of being able to occupy the same space. Everyone is inherently unequal, in entirety, philosophically.

We are equal before the law.

Well there technically are ways in which we are equal. (e.g. we are all humans, we are all mammals, any action is equally good/bad for anyone to do, etc.) But yes, there are plenty of ways in which we are different, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's also paradoxical how many people like to say see both "diversity" and "equality" as virtues, while these are technically contradicting things.

@Liberaltarian, no: women don't get drafted into the military by the state.

Ask yourself this, By words or actions?

And the answer is neither. Who writes the law? That answers the first part. Who breaks them and gets away with it, that answers the second part.

Going back to the main topic. Isn't A&E a private company so they can  hire/fire whom they want? Or am I missing something here?

I would argue under natural law we are equal, but I agree that current laws are not equal. Though we should be equal before the law.

Under natural law, it's impossible for us all to be equal. And since natural law is reality, that is why man-made laws are also not equal.
