Russia Invades Ukraine

Does this mean war for the US?

Russia, totalitarianism, and socialism should all be losing the war of popularity over this.

If more people start revolting against their governments now, this could stave a greater conflict.

If it wasn't for war, the leaders of Russia would still be Czars. If the US over-extends it's war liabilities, that may be a good time to revolt here.

What effect will "economic sanctions" have in this conflict?

Some thoughts?

I'm waiting for Obama to send troops. Kerry already opened his mouth You just dont invade another country on phony pretext in order to assert your interests. sounds like what we did in 2003. If our troops go over there and something goes wrong. I will be interested to see what the American populis does. Me personally would call for impeachment, but if everyone shrugs their shoulders and blow it off. That will be the icing on the Goodbye America cake.

Exactly. I hear Americans talking about wars being "justified" due to these meeting the interests of the United States all the time. Granted this happens more from Republicans but Democrats say BS like that too.

Of course, "our interests" in the U.S. case means the interests of big corporations. So maybe that's why Kerry is pissed: Since Putin is actually acting in the interests of Russia and not Multinational Corporations.  Smiley

Actually it was a revolution that got rid of the Tsar and his family.
My thoughts are, the people in the rest of Europe are going to have to decide if they want a return of the U.S.S.R. and whether they are willing to fight to prevent it.
No telling what will happen if Ukraine uses nukes to preserve it's freedom. I would.

Putin is acting in the interests of the rulers of Russia, of whom he is primary right now.
Rulers always act in their own interests and exploit the people they rule.

Technically, they've only invaded Crimea at this point.

The situation in Ukraine seems like a good example of the problems that occur when you have one government ruling over people with divergent interests. The Western Ukrainians want to be closer to Europe, while the Eastern Ukrainians want to be closer to Russia. Seems like they could solve that problem by splitting up.

As for the US response, that all depends on how the situation develops. The warmongers are definitely hoping to make something out of this, but how far they go is uncertain.

Correct, but they do have a ton of firepower for a Nation of that size. It's insane. No wonder they are begging for money.

That is most accurate Anti-Federalist.

Jeff; I believe there would of been no success in the October Revolution (or even a coupe), if the Great War wasn't at that very time.

At this time; it looks like they will play puffy chests, and trade wars.

I think Vlad-Putzin wants an actual war, and I'm afraid he is posturing for one. He does not believe in self ownership, and many Europeans don't as well.
