You keep demanding that we listen to the Cuban Communist Party.

We keep telling you to listen to Cuban people. Kiss

I could very likely be the only one on this site who actually 'has' listened to Cuban people in Cuba. They're the patriots, not the ones that left.

I liken it a lot to the Vietnamese people who stayed after they succeeded in winning their war and reuniting their country.

The Cuban people couldn't not fight against US support of evil. Neither could the Vietnamese people.

People come to wealthy countries from both, for the opportunities. A lot of the people in Cuba who are waiting tables for the tourists are educated years of university and educations that include doctorates. Some of them leave Cubs to put those educations to use.

It's a catch 22 if you know what that means. Would they be better off without being highly educated?

Education is a good thing for anyone, imo. I'm not really sure what you're alluding to here.  Are you suggesting that these highly educated people are stuck in go-nowhere menial jobs because of their education?

I re-read your post a couple of times but not sure what you're getting at.

Speaking of higher education...  Remember Elian Gonzalez - the famous 5 year old who was caught in a custody battle between his Cuban father and Cuban-American family in Miami?  He was returned to Cuba with his dad in June 2000.

Anyways, he graduated college last July, with a [unknown]degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Matanzas.

Properly indoctrinated into Communism, Gonzalez vowed “to fight from whatever trench the revolution demands.”

He's a good comrade.  Smiley

People in Cuba aren't limited in how much education they choose to get. Many choose university degrees which gives Cuba an excess of highly educated people with not enough jobs to fill.

Hence, some leave Cuba in order to put their education to use. The catch22 leads to the question of whether or not they should receive the education. Of course I too think they should.

It's a situation that exists in Cuba because of US meddling. It's not communism's fault.

Normalized relations would have solved all the problems long ago but the US can't allow the appearance that Communism has triumphed. It has with health care and free education and much more if the US had stayed out of it.

Oh, and landmark advances in agriculture too!

And all that reiterates the point that you should be reading Cuba's side of the stories too. US propaganda can't be trusted and you know that Chief.

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez calls Trump's speech on island a 'grotesque spectacle'.

U.S. President Donald Trump's speech on Cuba was a "grotesque spectacle," but the island's government will continue working towards better relations with the majority of Americans who back detente, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said on Monday.

Trump announced a partial rollback of the normalization of relations with Cuba on Friday in Miami, the heartland of Cuban exiles, in a theater named after the leader of the failed U.S.-backed Bay of Pigs invasion of the island in 1961.

"It was a grotesque spectacle straight from the Cold War," Rodriguez said in Vienna, during a tour of European countries, in a news conference broadcast live in Cuba...

From the article:

The Cuban government realizes that most Americans want detente.  This is an important step in restoring trade relations between the two countries.  Changes come very slow for Cuba, so we must be patient.

Indeed! It has been historically very, very difficult to get rid of Communist Party governments.

Getting rid of Communist Party governments is Nation Building. Washington warned us about the perils of political meddling. Every time the US has endeavored to overturn a Communist regime, it has faied.  EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

We need to just admit that Washington was right.  The embargo was a miserable failure.  It needs to end.
