Stir up your Representatives, let them know we are in charge.

It's nice that I can still say that... Should I be fearful because I did? Are "Justice" Dept. and/or DHS/CIA/FBI etc. types currently reading and evaluating my posts here, deciding whether or not I am a threat to "The Homeland"?

What a Hoot! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

As long as these "Homeland" folks stay out of my neighborhood, I'll be mostly happy.

The truth is, they are a threat to me.

Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary for President Donald Trump, told reporters on Thursday that the administration is pushing for a 20% border tax on Mexican imports.

"When you look at the plan that's taking shape now, using comprehensive tax reform as a means to tax imports from countries that we have a trade deficit from, like Mexico,"

http://www.businessinsider.com/sean-spicer-trump-considering-20-tax-on-mexican-i...

That doesn't sound like Free Trade to me. But Mexico needs to pay for the $15B Wall somehow.  Correcting the [combined (goods & svcs)] $67B Trade deficit is one way to do it.

Initially, the funds to pay for the wall will come from taxpayers via Congress approval, but this money could be recovered over time with a  20% border tax on Mexican imports.

That will screw up a lot of things, but it will be a backhanded reward to people who are importing from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Europe.

Is that fair?

Is that really the Supreme Court's idea of Constitutional "uniformity"? To screw Mexico and any American that does business with Mexico? Screw them uniformly, but only them.

Who will profit?

Profit is not the objective.   Fairness is.

The stated objectives of 'progressives' in control of governments are often "fairness", but the reality is usually different.
People in government are no different than others in having a healthy desire to improve their own lives first.
There is a branch of economics explaining this.

That's a very good article.  Thanks.  I liked the idea of a "predatory bureau" whose mission is to reduce the budgets of other agencies, with its income depending on its success.

It's brilliant.  A bureau with real incentive to be effective. In reality, if there were really such a bureau,  it's agents would likely be found crumpled up at the bottoms of stairwells or crumpled up from ingesting propylene glycol.   Grin

I agree with every part of that article.

Huh  i stand corrected.  Grin    Smiley

Trump signed in a very good E.O. this morning - one that should curb over-regulation and reduce the size and power of government.  Its Trumps first true "libertarian" executive order.

Basically it says For each new regulation introduced, TWO must be eliminated.
