Really?

Civilized people who believe in the rule of law are idiots who should be trodden upon?

If that is true, we need to change it immediately.

Hanging a few of the trodders (after a fair trial and conviction) would probably have good effects... Grin

Probably but as you noted with your own granddaughter, we start rewarding people for eschewing authority pretty damn young. This is why our schools are the way they are. Hit people, get popular. Smoke when you're well below the age requirement, get popular. Mate before the age requirement, get amazingly popular.

No one punishes anyone for doing any of these things, teaching children very early on that those who follow the rules are retards and those who break them are correctly and logically assessing the situation to gain the maximum benefit.

I've mulled this over, and all I can rightly say in reply is...What are you talking about?

Sorry, I forgot for a bit.

Not being human, you don't know any people, so you just imagine this stuff out of envy.

Schools are crap because there's no enforcement for breaking rules.

The rules are jokes.

The people who follow them are jokes.

There you go.

Stacy Herbert and her husband Max Keiser write for Russia Today, believe in government social programs, and think that Trump is an ignoramus, but are strongly anti-war like libertarian Lew Rockwell, and agree with him regarding gold ownership.

Can anyone explain this?

They're humans. They're all like that. You especially.

People hate war for different reasons. Some hate it because it's wrong and others hate it because it disadvantages their survival strategy.

This article by Pat Buchanan is definitely not a politically correct Associated Press story:

Maybe an other "Shock and Awe" midnight barrage of 20mm tracer rounds might do the trick. Followed by some laser-targeted cruise-missiles bursts and a few A-10 sorties thrown in for good measure.  It sure looked impressive on TV back in March of 2003. The wife and I watched the whole thing unfold from our honeymoon suite in Las Vegas. Made us damn proud to be 'Mericans!

Only now, whenever we have conjugal relations, I think of rockets and tracer rounds streaking across the sky. Which is not so bad, i reckon, depending on how you look at it.   Smiley

Truth is, Afghanistan is a lost cause. So are all the other US nation-building exercises going on in the M.E..

We need to cut our losses and get out of that cess-pit.

All of you would do well to understand why your country is waging wars throughout the world. It's likely that you don't because complete control of the ME can't allow Afghanistan to be an exception.

And so once again, the sides are drawn and now it's going to be two major forces in competition. The US long ago decided that peaceful coexistence with Russia and China was not on the table.

Or maybe some of you do understand but none of you seem to be able to express that understanding.

As to the current situation, it's only a distant hope that the Republican party will stay with Trump. If they turn against him, as is starting to happen, it will be the end of him in short order.  That would be assuming that Trump was serious about cooperation with Russia and/or China, which he's not.

Americans will come together against the common enemy in the same way they always have when the propagandists start to beat the drums of war. Only the next time the stakes will be much higher and no victory will come out of it.
