How about a link to the proposed bill so that I know its not just something in your imagination?
Of course he's lying again.

Many NRA members believe that the recognized Constitutional Right to bear arms includes carrying them concealed... What the heck, that's what the criminals do... Cry

But our courts have made it clear that any law passed by Congress mandating that every place in the U.S. must permit concealed carry for anyone and everyone would be considered by them to be not Constitutional.

People at the NRA know that.

Donny will probably make up another link... Tongue

If the USA wasn't the head of a gigantic military empire, one might not worry about our guns anymore than you complain about guns in Honduras. They carry guns around openly in Honduras and have one of the highest homicide rates. Why talk about the USA?  I imagine if Honduras was the head of a global empire, you would complain about their citizens' guns. Do you unfairly focus on the USA for some reason?

Right!  Don't call people evil for demanding that Natural Rights be honored.

Hondurans have the Natural Right to defend themselves.  Saskatewans enjoy this right too!  In fact, everyone on the planet has the Natural Right of self-defense.

Many Governments will fiercely argue against this fact. They will invoke archaic religious beliefs or some perverted societal paradigms.

Don't listen to them...  They are profoundly ignorant.

The most basic argument for bearing arms is that if you outlaw them, only law-abiding citizens will be disarmed.

The most basic argument for outlawing arms is it makes it easier for people who fly off the handle to do serious damage to others.

If you look at worldwide satistics, you can't draw a correlation between murder rate and permission to bear arms.  This is a function of several things, including poverty levels, culture and quite possibly something else I could be prosecuted for typing.

The people who created America thought a very basic reason to have citizens armed was to prevent the government from ever being able to tyrannize us, and of course that required that citizens have arms equivalent to the military arms of the day.

Of course 'progressive' governments don't like armed citizens, because 'progressive' plans always require forcing people to do things...

*I'm one Canadian who's now convinced that guns are wot's gud.

Quote:
Another study, in 2003, found that counties with higher levels of household gun ownership have higher rates of household burglary, not lower. Burglars like to steal not only cash and jewelry but also guns. A homeowner with a collection of firearms may not want to advertise that fact.

*for americans only.

There's an obvious issue regarding correlation and causation there.  Perhaps people in areas with high crime rates feel a greater need to protect their homes with guns.

One argument there is that at that time they had only cap and ball rifles that were time consuming to load. Not sure if you have ever handled an old navy revolver. They definitely weren't cooking bacon on the barrels of machine guns in those days.

That's probably true but it also might be putting the cart before the horse. For instance, the guns came because they became an instrument that aided criminals. Then the homeowner fell for the false need to protect themselves with guns. Thereby causing the deaths of many more homeowners.

The ideal situation would be far less guns and that's where we can get into the methods that could be employed to make that happen.
