Since US mainstream economists maintain that the US has a "consumer-driven" economy as opposed to a "supply-side" economy, here is some great news for them:

What about all the credit card debt that Russians are carrying? Grin Grin

Do you know what drives the Russian economy?

Does Russia Today talk about that sort of thing?

Who are these "US mainstream economists" anyway? Could you name the top 10? Thanks.

They get debt because... It's simply because that's what they ought to do, logically speaking.

Inflation destroys savings, so they don't save. In fact, they do the opposite. In ten years' time, the people who save the least and spend the most (including spending what they don't have if they're let to) will have gained the most units of value.

That's assuming nothing happens to upset the status quo and the people who actually own the stuff repossess it.

Here's an interesting discussion in part talking about how it is actually freedom that makes people rich.

Actual practical freedom enriches everyone.

Limitations on freedom, whether imposed by a government or by exclusion and voluntarism, impoverish everyone.
