Start with a young child. Help them to understand that the things they do have consequences. Start holding them responsible for the harm and damage they cause.

After mere years of sometimes constant struggle, they will either become responsible adults or not.

Jeff's naughty behaviour is an indication of how well he understands that which he tries to preach. He shouldn't be trying to tell us anything about children when he's acting like a child most of the time.

If you had any sincere hopes of promoting libertarianism you wouldn't be entertaining him.

But I guess when there's a shortage of libertarians, it's the best you can get?

I think Jeff is basically saying it's tough teaching an old dog new tricks.  At the same time, he's stressing the importance of proper parenting - a role which these days is being delegated to school teachers.

Individual responsibility must be taught in the home - not the classroom.

What I really said Chief was that it's a sort of community effort. Parents, teachers, neighbors, family members, visitors.... If they all join each other to help, most children will learn personal responsibility, i.e. to respect the rights of others.

Expecting parents to do it on their own is often unrealistic, as is expecting teachers to do it for you. It's one of those voluntary community efforts that libertarians always say are good, because they are.

Sorry, I didn't mean to misrepresent what you said.

Oh - Like when Hillary said "It takes a village to raise a child".

I don't agree with that philosophy at all.  I don't want the values of others to sully the values I impart on my children.  That's how they created the socialists millennials - leaving child-rearing up to the leftist teachers.

But I have. I've known many of you. I punched one of you to the ground (the floor of the school bus) when I was 16.
Edit: That would make it 1966. You haven't changed at all, asshole.
