There were. They made a compromise with evil in hope of preserving America, and it was people in slave states that insisted that America, through our Declaration of Independence and Constitution, guaranteed and protected the institution of slavery.

They do not. The mention of slavery is repugnant against the Declaration and Constitution as a whole.

What the slavers insisted on is a small part of the Constitution, which would not be there if slavers hadn't insisted on it.

Their evil self interest caused the Civil War in America. Had the CSA won, they would have forced the free states now under the CSA Constitution to become slave states.

Yet another war over slavery in America would have been guaranteed. Be glad they lost the first time around.
