I think there's been a pretty big cultural change in the US, high school kids don't really have after school or summer jobs anymore.  Partially its competition from low skilled immigrant labor but that's not the whole story.

The wages I worked for in High School wouldn't have supported an immigrant (unless he worked 80 hours/wk.), much less allowed him to send any money home to support his family...
You're saying they've engineered things in Oregon so that immigrants can make enough money to support themselves and their families by pumping gas? And they are more reliable and work harder than High School students, who apparently aren't willing to pump gas for $12/hr. or more???
