Funny you should ask.  She started lurking this board after Kaz' little "yo mamma" joke backfired on him.  She has said several times that, "that nice young Opposer person" sounds very wise.

I think intelligent is more accurate than wise, but still...

What good is genius without wisdom?

Evil geniuses are a cliche to be sure, but the cliche arises out of reality.

The grain of truth in the high intelligence, low wisdom cliche is that people with extreme intelligence can often use that intelligence to override their common sense. Many things people do out of rote fall apart upon examination, but still need to be done anyway.

I've done things I regret. I like to think I'm more wise for having done them, though.

Here you identify the crux of many of the ills of humanity, the failure to exercise free will under examined and accepted 'rules'.

Legalistic interpretations, without being examined under the lens of Faith and empirical evidence, lead to things like the Inquisition.

I realised this early on. I divested myself of the notion that the rules didn't apply to me a long time ago.

A lot of the behaviours faith proscribes are necessary to society, but some are equally dangerous to it.

For example, we can now cook meat to an internal temperature of 165°F to be sure all the worms are dead.

So if you had six starving Jews sitting around a nice fat pig, and a Rabbi telling them to starve, he would be wrong.

It's important not to dismiss a rule as stupid out of hand. It's equally important to discard it, if it really is hurting or even hampering people.

I've known other entities that lied as often as you do, but all of them were redneck idiots who were far better liars and fabulists than you are.

Lucky for me I had real world experience and plenty of education before I met someone like Mad Dog Mahon, or you.

I am the only one who has read, or follows, the rules of this forum.

If you think that's a lie, quote the rules and find one of my posts that breaks them.

I've never read them.

I prefer to do as I please and if the owners of the board ban me, that is there right.

The rabbi should have recommended 175°F.  Nobody would have starved.

Tragic loss - averted!
