It's both shameful and a shame.

You would have hoped that the Measure EE Tax had passed?

The California courts would have probably struck it down if it had...

If you say they never have, I guess they never have. I don't live there, so it's not a problem I can do anything about anyway.

They do keep voter initiatives off the ballot don't they?

If the Initiative aims to limit the powers of government, yes.

Last November, California voters gathered the required signatures to put the Three States Initiative on the ballot.

If passed, this initiative would have split up the massive state into 3 smaller, freer states.

Democrats went into panic mode because it would take away 55 electoral votes which the DNC relies on.

So Democrat lawmakers told the California Supreme Court to remove the measure (PROP 9) from the ballot!!

And they DID!!   Grin    Grin    Grin

This state is corrupt to the bone.    Its hilarious.

Quote:
San Francisco is the nation’s leader in property crime. Burglary, larceny, shoplifting, and vandalism are included under this ugly umbrella. The rate of car break-ins is particularly striking: in 2017 over 30,000 reports were filed, and the current average is 51 per day. Other low-level offenses, including drug dealing, street harassment, encampments, indecent exposure, public intoxication, simple assault, and disorderly conduct are also rampant.
Funny, I lived there for near 10 years.  I don't know anyone who bothered to report a car break in.  I suspect the actual number is an order of magnitude higher.

Hi, I am Yamcha and I am new here.  Glad to be in a place where opposing views are not shut down.

I and 47 and born and raised in California (Orange County).  I am too young to remember what some people call the "Golden Years" when Reagan was governor but I do have great memories of growing up there during the late 70s till now.

It was like paradise on Earth.  We have relatively low taxes and housing was affordable and there wasn't any PC or big illegal problem and boy the weather was and still is the best.

Most of the more serious crime was committed by Blacks and Mexicans but it was kept mostly in their own areas.  Then came the 90's with the riots, O.J. Simpson, PC culture and the Democrat party take over.  Everything went to the shit that you see now.

Now, besides the weather, I can't think of anything I like about this place.

Have you had the misfortune of going into downtown L.A. recently?    I did.    What a disgusting mess. . . .

hypodermic needles and feces all over the place.   Rows of tents and makeshift cardboard shelters.  And the stench.     Squalor everywhere you look.      That's the way the progressives like it.

The transition to socialism is difficult to watch.

I have. but to be honest, I live in the so-called "suburbs" (Orange County) and have no interested in ever having to step into downtown L.A..

But really, there is no need, all I have to do is drive by the Santa Ana River.  It looks just like that District 9 movie.

Those homeless are being just as they want to be.  Even though this has been tried before, let me give a hypothetical example: Let's say that the number of homeless wasn't in the 10's of thousand but only 15 or 20 people.  And let's say you set up a really good shelter for them with, Hot showers, clean beds, and fresh clothing.  A good cafeteria, library with internet and a strong job placement program.  You will see that even given this, within a week there will be piss, shit, drug needles all over the floor and also assault and rape.  They have tried it and they know.
