Yes. There are other sensitivity Laws, too.

We can no longer refer to illegal aliens as illegal aliens, or "illegals".

We must now call them "Non-citizens".

Even the term "undocumented immigrant" is taboo.

We can no longer call abortion clinics abortion clinics.  These shall be referred to as "Pregnancy Planning Facilities", or PPFs.

We really have to be super careful about the words and terms we use in California - there are hidden video cameras and microphones all over.

Please provide a link to these laws, what are the penalties for calling someone a criminal or illegal alien?

These taboo words are "guidelines" for conversational speech in public schools, on university campuses and TV/radio broadcast.

Kalifornia continues it's slide into third world country status:

What do you think the problem is? Please be specific.

Quote:
A recent survey showed 93 per cent of Sacramento's homeless either grew up in the city or had lived there long-term before hitting the streets, according to the city's spokesman.

This moral relativism of yours is exactly what lets government take this freedom, then that freedom, until we have lost them all.

"Progressive" government, and far too much of it.

So why did you call them laws? Has Kalifornia's Supreme Court given "guidelines" the force of law?

The Courts are not any part of it.  If they were, they would stop it.

The "laws" are edicts that come from school administrators and TV/Radio producers.

Rush Limbaugh (EIB network) was prohibited from using the term Feminazi - a term he coined in the 1990s. During his show, he still occasionally blurts out the word, but his engineer censors it out by direction of the producer.

I suspect this is done just for California broadcast, and not censored in other states.

So, they aren't laws at all but rather a style code similar to things that have existed, well forever.

Its totally reasonable that schools should have such codes for teachers, staff, and students and quite reasonable for broadcast networks to do the same.

There is a phrase for this sort of thing, "moving the goal post", its when someone makes a statement that isn't really true so they start changing the parameters so that it becomes less and less untrue or more difficult to disprove.

Is actually a very different claim from:

The list of banned words were fine to use in conversation AND in broadcast 20 years ago.  Today they are no longer allowed.

20 years ago the words Chinaman, snowflake, spaz, gaydar, et al were perfectly suitable in colloquial conversation on college campuses and in broadcast.  No more.   It's the slippery slope to take away free speech.  We've not yet arrived, but we are well on the road to government controlling our thoughts and speech.

Call it whatever you like.  Ignore it if you helps you sleep at night.  But you can't un-ring the bell.

And the same goes for the 2nd Amendment.

Today a MINI 14 is perfectly legal (provided the magazine  cannot accept over 10 rounds).  But an AR 15, which is functionally identical to the MINI 14, is banned because it has a pistol grip and a barrel shroud, which makes it look really scary.

Now, if you were to take the plastic barrel shroud off the AR 15 and bolt it to the MINI 14, the MINI 14 would now become a banned rifle because the barrel shroud that you bolted onto it magically transformed the MINI 14 into an "assault" weapon, and it could be subject to confiscation.

That demonstrates the stupidity of the anti-2nd amendment gun laws that come out of Sacramento.   No wonder so many intelligent people are fleeing the state.
