Mostly for the benefit of ahhell who has tried to present a reasoned discussion on the GMO issues.

It's just not as clear cut as you want it to be ahhell.

If anybody would like to draw some parallel to Trump's dictatorial free trade priorities then be my guest.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to take a libertarian position against Trump on what he thinks he can do!

This is mostly a story about bad economic policy.  Price controls are a bad idea.  They will encourage over investment and production in cotton or Monsanto will leave the market.  Its a story about the Indian government pandering to farmers, a remarkably common feature of democratically elected governments.

It doesn't really say anything about the merits of GMOs, even GMO cotton.   Doesn't say anything about the business practices of Monsanto nor the farming practices that are sometimes blamed on Monsanto and GMO's.

I agree. It is in fact the business practices and desire to profit of corporations that created the crops that finally stopped periodic famines in India.

The government of India is free to reverse the gains at any time and create another famine.

There are well known ways to easily cause famine.
