Not in Cuba. They have universal health care equivalent to the US, except that all Cubans have it and all Americans don't.

That puts an entirely different light on poverty doesn't it therm! Not to mention free quality education for all Cubans and adequate healthy food!

And also not to have to mention that the live in a tropical paradise as good as *California while poor Americans live in some shit hole in the middle of a dust bowl.

*poor people are moving away from California.

there are many people in cuba that cant get good helth care unless therew part of the oagarkey read or watch animill farm  humanty is the problem and state owned capitalism is not comunizem unless u belive in educating the people up to the lv of noblety and intelgica then disbanding the government as marxism states cuba or the ussr never had it there has never bin true comunest government and comuiizem is a econimic system that has never worked

Truth is, it's exactly opposite of this.

Thanks for the lie, though,   you're proving to be quite useful, Don_G.

From what I read I agree with them.

Still, if this is true, no one is stopping the parents from seeking private health care. No one is telling that toddler to die. They're just saying he can't live on tax money.

This moral relativism of yours is exactly what lets government take this freedom, then that freedom, until we have lost them all.

Death panels. As money gets tight, more people will be determined to be not worth saving. It will start with the very young and the very old... Unless the old people are members of the Death Panel, in which case it will be found that they are worth saving at any cost and that their grandchildren are probably special too!

Where is the money coming from for the treatment the parents want?

I think the pope was going to liquidate some jewelry.  Or maybe the parents have money saved up or maybe the Italians could just bill them.

Is your point that when government pays for stuff, government gets to decide?  Exactly right!  That's why we don't want government paying for our stuff.

The family isn't asking the court to force the Brit government hospital to pay for the treatment.  They only want to take him to another, more compassionate, country, but:

Quote:
Having failed to gain the court's permission to fly his son to Italy, Tom Evans told British media on Thursday morning that he will be speaking to the doctors at Alder Hey about bringing Alfie home.

Contrary to all the expectations of the doctors, Alfie continued to breathe independently, according to a statement from Christian Concern, a sister organization of the Christian Legal Centre, which is representing the parents.

Tom Evans also posted a video on Facebook in which he said that his son had been breathing for himself and that the doctors were refusing to give him oxygen.

For hours, Alfie continued to breathe unaided, with hospital staff refusing to help with either ventilation or hydration despite his coughing, according to the Christian Concern statement and Alfie's father.

About 2 a.m. Tuesday, Alder Hey hospital staff provided some hydration and oxygen support, his mother reported on Facebook.

The Italian government granted Italian citizenship to Alfie on Tuesday and applied to the foreign secretary for permission to intervene to save Alfie's life.

Once again, the courts had to decide, in an urgent hearing on Tuesday, whether this would be permitted, and it ruled to ban travel.

Now, Alfie has passed away.  No doubt the government is thrilled that he will no longer inconvenience them.

Lots of people could afford private care with private payment a lot more easily if they weren't paying so much of their earnings to support a huge crony Medical/Industrial Complex. (Edit: Don't forget the Insurance/Industrial Complex either..)

It took a long time for him to die and must have been pitiful to watch. (Edit: They intervened briefly to prolong his suffering.)

Were the parents nearby through it all?

Why should anyone be willing to have government interfere to the level that they take charge of our children?

I would bet on this being charity. This is fine, I just don't like the idea that Alfie lives because the media made a stink, and others die because no one cares.

People die because they can't afford treatment all the time. Charity is only for the ones who can be used politically.

They should have the right to fly him to Italy if someone else is willing to pay.
