It's a common troll tactic not to give your own opinion so you can mercilessly tear down others' opinions.

If you only ever say that others are wrong, and you say it enough, and no one can say you're wrong because you've never stood behind any perspective, you're sure to win every argument.

Or at least, not lose. Because you're not playing.

Craig Sickler is an asshole but he does have some good opinions from time to time. Unfortunately, you deserve all the abuse you get from him because of your childish behaviour.

I'm beginning to get what he's saying when he talks about your lizard brain. Maybe it's time to act more grownup and stop the crazy shit you like wallowing in. Nobody thinks it's funny anymore. Let it come out in thermf5 and Alayne and whoever else you're pretending not to be.

Note: Thermf5 is the main character and the others are the spinoffs.  Oh, and I say this with complete abandon now. L of F is likely one of them too.

Yes, please.

OK, here it is again, there is no science behind a diagnosis of psychosis, it amounts to nothing more than a subjective opinion, just like a diagnosis of ADHD.

You're describing Red's behavior in this thread.

I have repeatedly claimed that there is no science behind diagnosing "mental disorders". Scientific methods are not used in such diagnoses, which are nothing more than subjective opinions. "Mental disorders" are not described as a disease with a cause, but as a chosen array of "symptoms".

In a real science like medicine, identifiable causes create observable symptoms.

In "mind science" arbitrarily chosen symptoms are themselves the "disorder".
The "disorder" is the symptoms, which is why behaviorists (even those using drugs) believe a 'cure' is effected by altering the behavior that constitutes the "symptoms".

There are a number of diseases caused by known organic agents that have as one of their symptoms high fever, and it is often necessary and effective to cool the patient, who's overheated brain might be delusional, but even if the fever is effectively controlled, the disease has not been cured by reducing the fever.

Mind scientists operate on the theory that alleviating the symptom(s) has cured the disorder. If you use the right drugs in the right amounts on a ADHD child, they might stop exhibiting the symptoms of ADHD, but since mind science doesn't know the cause of the behavior in the first place, they can't claim to have cured anything.

Long before psychology was invented, people were teaching their children to sit down, shut up and pay attention. Nobody knew their children were suffering from a "mental disorder" until "mind scientists' decided that normal but uncommon human behavior (like homosexuality) resulted from "mental disorders".

It's easy to identify "mental disorders". Just look around until you find people who have problems in their lives caused by behavior that is unacceptable to others.

Let's identify people who don't have problems living in their families or schools or societies and call them "normal and well adjusted", like the normal well adjusted boys and young men of Sparta, who got along well in their society by becoming professional killing machines.

What happened to Spartan boys who wanted to write poetry or read philosophy instead of becoming killing machines? Spartan psychologists identified them as having "mental disorders" and had them beat mercilessly until they became "normal".

Red will say I'm wrong, that his favorite branch of "mind science" really is science, because Doctoral level credentialed psychologists believe they are using the scientific method to identify and describe "mental disorders", but he has yet to identify the criteria used to separate "normal" from ADHD.

Your analogy is incorrect and here's why. When the fever is controlled the cure has begun. And the deadly fever will be kept under control until the cure is complete.

This pertains to illnesses of the mind equally so. I won't provide the full explanation for why that is becuase it's burnsred's job.

And so I've just deleted all of your other empassioned pleas to Oppo because that error in your thinking has made the rest just as wrong and redundant.

You've really been completely had now Craig. You've taken a step too far in your ignorance. It's not like you haven't been warned!

No.

Healers recommended the application of cool cloths to victims of smallpox, who mostly died anyway.

Reducing the fever does not cure, or start to cure, smallpox. It might prevent the few survivors from having damaged brains when they recover...

Edit: Say, were you a victim of smallpox back in the bad old Soviet days?

Red (I think) is consulting with the lizard. It might take time.

YES Billie bob Sickler and there are exceptions. But the fever will kill if it's not brought down. It's the reason for ice baths.

And as I have said, it's for burnsred to tell you how the psychs do the equivalent.

He's got a small problem of not being able to do that but if you feed him your ignorant information the same way you tried it on me, he won't have much choice.

You and burnsred figure it out now!

And here you were starting to sound so informed and professional. Now you've been reduced back to a 'fooch'.

edit: 3 serial posts by Sickler!   Embarrassed

YES But the fever will kill if it's not brought down.
The smallpox would most likely kill you anyway, because the fever is only a symptom of smallpox, not the disease itself.

Do you have a point?

Do you have credentials and degrees suitable to make Red think your opinions have any value at all?

No?

So why should we listen to you at all?
