Socialist President Nicolas Maduro has accused the United States of plotting to invade Venezuela and overthrow his government.

The Venezuelan navy stopped two ships exploring for oil for Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) off Guyana’s coast.

In response to the event, the U.S. State Department said Venezuela had behaved “aggressively” and called on the country to “respect international law and the rights of its neighbors.”

“It is evident that the U.S. government is interfering in a matter that is not at all incumbent upon it, with the goal of promoting corporate interests closely linked to the Washington ruling elite.”  said the Venezuelan foreign ministry spokesman.

Venezuela is seeing the very same political upheaval that currently plagues the US:  The Venezuelan Parliament is obstructing Prez Maduro at every turn, just as US Congress obstructs Prez Trump:

Juan Gerardo Guaido Marquez, head of Venezuela's opposition-controlled parliament challenged President Nicolas Maduro today, saying he is ready to assume country's presidency himself until free and fair elections can be held.

"The Constitution gives me the legitimacy to exercise the charge of the presidency of the Republic to call elections, but I need the support of the citizens to make it happen." said Guaido-Marquez

Iris Valera, Venezuela's Minister for Penitentiary Affairs, said she already has a cell ready for Guaido-Marquez:

"I hope you quickly name your cabinet to know who will accompany you,"   [LOL]

I don't think you can compare them yet Chief, but as I think you noted, we are safest when the government is gridlocked.

I'm intrigued here What If?, Tell me the whole story. Thanks.

BTW, is it OK if I call you "?" ?

You can call me "?".

I never asked him the specifics but I heard a few different ways he and other managed it. One trick was to fly via transit through Panama. They can withdraw USD in a cash machine there without going through immigration - so no visa was required.

I don't know if this is still possible though.

Still haven't heard from him.  Undecided

Who puts the money in the "cash machine" for him to withdraw?

You're saying he can fly from Panama into the U.S. without a visa?
