Everything you said about Weld was bullshit Chief.

I just copied and pasted items from  http://www.ontheissues.org/Bill_Weld.htm

Which items don't you agree with?
(don't forget to provide citations to support your rebuttal  Wink)

Weld acted like a Democratic Socialist pretending to be a Republican or Libertarian or whatever.

His substantial actions were all in favor of Democratic Socialism. Candy coating them doesn't change them.

Oh ok... then we are in complete agreement.

You need to read more carefully.   The Weld policy items I posted ARE Democratic Socialist/redistribution/intervention ideas.

I felt compelled to argue this, but after doing a little research, it's evident that Weld did support some Democratic Socialist/Redistribution policies:

• Reaffirmed commitment to affirmative action. (Sep 1996)

• Favors "clean" needle giveaways to drug addicts. (Aug 1997)

• Wants tougher sentences for drug abuse offenders. (Oct 1996)

• Favored EPA's electric car mandate and stricter smog limits. (May 2016)

• Supports expansive environmental regulations. (Aug 2005)

• Supported $25B Mexico bailout. (Jun 2004)

• Despite being Libertarian VP, still interested in free trade. (May 2016)

• Supports gun control. (Aug 2005)

• Take on ISIS with FBI task forces, like we took on the Mafia. (Jul 2016)

• Just started receiving Social Security and likes it. (May 2016)

• Cut taxes without abolishing the IRS. (Jun 2016)

• Strongly Opposed Privatized Social Security

We are in agreement. Weld generally acted as a Democratic Socialist.

But what about this?-

• Despite being Libertarian VP, still interested in free trade. (May 2016)

I should not have included that one...   I read it as "still interested in FAIR trade".

FREE Trade  -   very libertarian.

FAIR trade    -  not so much

Free trade isn't always "free" trade; because if jobs are in other countries, then those countries' economies are improved, and next they can economically (and eventually politically) conquer country that you're a citizen of, and then you've got those countries' governments  that's really huge to keep you from rebelling against said governments; that's against libertarianism.  I don't think William Weld would have jobs go to other countries; I'm guessing his free trade belief system is loosening prohibitions of trade.

I have zero to little confidence in you being able to understand what I say, but I'll try for the other's interests.

The US has promoted free trade with the rest of the world and the terms are straight forward. The problem is that the US can't gain the upper hand by sticking to fair trade with other countries.

The US is down to two choices now. It's either going to be a fight with the gang that is forming or it's going to be isolationist policy.

The damage that Trump is doing is going to come on slowly and it's going to be permanent for a lot longer than he can understand. And then a new administration is going to take a lot longer apologizing to trading partners and trying to patch up the damage.

I can speak for Canada right now in this process. We are moving away from US trade and diversifying to other trading partners.

The issue then for all of the US's trading partners is: Will the new trading partners be able to offer more for less money?

In all trade goods, that's pretty well a given.

The Republicans need to move against Trump soon. But if they don't, the coming election is almost certainly going to effectively end his reign of terror.

"Free Trade" simply means trade left to its natural course without tariffs, quotas, or other restrictions. Libertarians advocate Free Trade.

"Fair Trade"  means that the US pays an extra tax on goods from other countries.  Its a way of redistributing wealth from the US to other "less fortunate" countries.

You obviously don't know the meaning of the word 'fair'.

The chief has given the word a new meaning for you and the scam goes right over your head.

Right?
