America has less poverty, but more inequality.

Nowhere else in the world can you work for a week at minimum wage and skim enough off the top of your salary to buy a laptop.

The case can be made that America needs more poverty and less inequality, but Don is incapable of even understanding what he's trying to say.

I disagree with the conclusion of this article, but it's very honest, and it presents Don's case better than he ever could.

The article is very forthright about the fact that redistribution will mean more poverty, and I respect that. The basic case is that maybe we don't need so much stuff, and that the psychological need for equality is greater.

Than where? Are you comparing America to the "socially responsible" places?

As long as you still live with your Mom and she pays for everything and probably does your laundry. That's where your coming from, right?

You dolt. The people controlling the distribution will always be rich. Schemes such as you propose always lead to greater poverty for everyone but the leaders who take control of the wealth, for the common good of course, but they get rich while everyone else loses.

Where I'm coming from is that you can get a functional laptop for about $100 now, new.

I'm trying to get across that America's "poor" live better than the kings and queens of old. We have an amazing amount of stuff, and wealth.

Do you disagree? I never know because you prefer to insult.

That's great. I suppose you give credit to the government...

Anyway, since your making minimum wage (where? that could be important!) and living on your own, what are your fixed expenses? You live in a tree and eat insects?

More insults. Typical libertarian. Too bad you can't discuss actual issues.

It's certainly true, and the reason is around a $trillion/per year is given to people who aren't providing for themselves.

Some of them can't. The last two places I've lived I've had neighbors who disabled themselves by eating too much and smoking a lot and never moving unless it was absolutely necessary.

We make sure they live well.

Sickler isn't a libertarian Oppo.

But neither are you. This forum has matured to the point at which only the  Chief believes that libertarians are something real. Everybody will just hang on to the false hope for a while though. I should just leave and let it play out naturally, but I'm not ready yet. Maybe in a week of so? I want to see what will happen now that everybody is quite clear that the libertarian agenda is nothing but bullshit.
