SCOTUS Justice Anthony Kennedy Steps Down

Kennedy's decision to step aside was based on his deep desire to spend more time with his family. He is 81.
He has served as a Supreme Court Jurist for 30 years, and is arguably the most libertarian Justice of the nine.

Said Kennedy:

“It has been the greatest honor and privilege to serve our nation in the federal judiciary for 43 years, 30 of those years on the Supreme Court.”

President Trump commented "[Justice Kennedy] has been a great justice of the Supreme Court.  Hopefully, we will pick someone who is just as outstanding.”

"Washington could be in for an epic battle over Kennedy’s replacement."  WaPo

His successor won't be any kind of a swing voter on the Scotus. He'll be totally and completely corrupted with Trump's political philosophy of fascism.

The US supreme court has now been completely politicized and taken over by the ruling party.

The world will be watching!

Look for evidence to show that Kennedy was somehow coerced to leave in order to make room for another hardliner who can be depended upon to support Trump and fascist policy.

And don't expect the upcoming election to be of any significance in putting the brakes on. Bush/Gore told the story already on how US democracy was destroyed 18 years ago.

Agreed.   Kennedy was the most libertarian-leaning of all the justices.  His vacancy next month will open the door to a hard-line Conservative.

I don't think so.  The guy is 81 years old.  He just wants to spend his few remaining years with his family.  That's what he said, anyway. Why would he lie about that?

Who knows? Possibly on threat of death. As an American you can't even appreciate the desperateness of the current situation in your country.

Did you forget that you have a psychopathic madman as your president?

Or did you forget that your rule of law became meaningless when Obama lost his right to name the next member of the Scotus?

And don't try to be coy with me and explain how the law works. That's only pablum for completely indoctrinated americans.

Heil Trump!

Wild and baseless speculation.

Many people in the press have labelled Donald Trump a psychopath;

Dr. Lance Dodes, David Plouffe,  Karen Celestino-Horseman, et al...

Others have identified him as a Sociopath. Anton Ashcroft,  Mitchell Anderson, Clio Chang, et al...

The problem is, all of these people are Hillary supporters who are bitter and only want to slander the president. They are not qualified - ethically or professionally - to use these terms to harm the president.

However, there ARE some psychiatrists and mental-health professionals who actually HAVE diagnosed Trump as a psychopath.  Unfortunately for them, the Goldwater Rule renders all of these diagnoses just as invalid as the MSM diagnoses.

I disagree Chief.

Clarence Thomas is my pick for the most consistent principled libertarian.

Kennedy was the best "leaner"? Roll Eyes

That's a long way from being a principled libertarian.

Gorsuch is good too. I think he and Thomas are living in the real world, and most of the others fade in and out.

Maybe Trump told him if he didn't retire, that Trump would add three or four more justices to the court and undo everything since FDR... Wink

Trump may be a bit on the wild side, and an  obnoxious asshole, but psychopath?

Remember Ruby, mind scientists are conflicted in there opinions of who is a real psychopath even when they get to spend time with the suspects personally.

Did they speculate about what mental disorders Obama had? Or LBJ?

Mental health experts say they don't need to see Trump and psychoanalyze him in person. They've seen much more of him and his mannerisms already, that what they require from a patient.

Burnsred won't be able to help you on this. He can't allow himself to condemn Trump the way he used to condemn him.
