Jeff, you can't get one party to control the government with personal campaign donations.
Geez Ruby, I wasn't figuring I could control the government, I was just fantasizing that I could make John Allison President, something he probably doesn't even want...

And when charity through government redistribution of wealth was seen as a right, it created dependency.
Any charity can create dependency Ruby.

Certainly you've heard of Mothers enabling their wayward children?

Indeed, and it will be easily restored when we make Congress aware, and certain, that it isn't authorized to spend our money to bribe anyone, or use the powers we granted them to enrich themselves and their friends.

Damn, Jeff.  Would you pay attention to the argument?  I said there will be no libertarian government because libertarians won't buy votes, meaning using taxpayer money to fund government programs like Welfare.  You can't put one party in control with campaign contributions alone, but you can with taxpayer money.

Not like government programs do, Jeff.

Honestly Jeff, you go out of your way to contradict people.

They'll just claim government programs are needed.  Anyone wanting to do away with Welfare will be branded as cruel and heartless.

Why is it different if someone gets government assistance or their parents give them everything they need?

I was thinking of it from the point of view of the dependent person, who never has to take responsibility for themselves...

That's what they do alright.

You don't think people will ever catch on to the bad unintended effects of welfare? The "subsidize poverty and you get more of it" thing?

Maybe Jeff is a contrarian. Maybe he wants to tell you that you are wrong and he is right. I am not sure if always being right while everyone else is always wrong is the same thing as a contrarian, or a libertarian.
