I don't think depleted uranium rounds will be banned.

Especially for use in anti-tank ammo. There just isn't any other substance that has armor-piercing properties as depleted uranium.  Tungsten is nearly as dense, but its much too brittle and shatters on impact with hardened steel - the point-of-entry becomes too big and the inertia of the projectile becomes dispersed over a large area, which makes tungsten an inferior choice for armor-piercing anti-tank rounds.

Depleted Uranium fired at super-high velocity (over 5k ft/sec) is the only suitable substance which can penetrate the hardened steel plating on a tank.

In order to make war safe you mean? Or to make it possible to fight wars without environmental damage?

Probably yes because when (not if) that USA Space Force becomes a reality, then lasers and particle beams sent from orbiting spacecraft to targets on Earth, will most probably be used in place of depleted uranium.

That's an old wives tale, therm.

DU is poisonous, like lead, but the radioactivity emitted by DU is too low to cause cancer.

"The Int'l Atomic Energy Agency concluded that there is no evidence that depleted uranium has been carcinogenic in humans."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depleted_uranium

However, if a DU round with a velocity of 5k ft/sec hits a human body, it may cause great injury or death.

DU is underrated in it's danger to humans and other animal life. The lies that promote it as being safe are an attempt to keep the lawsuits down and out of the courts.

DU must eventually be regulated out of use.

Why would any evil pseudo-libertarian even attempt to support the evil it's being used for?

We're going to change the LP and we need to start by kicking out the dinosaurs that should have gone extinct.

There are other uses besides as armor piercing projectiles.

Here's the Material Safety Data Sheet for depleted uranium-

https://www.msdsdigital.com/depleted-uranium-counterweights-msds

As you can see, it's not much of a hazard at all unless you inhale it in finely divided form, and then it is toxic (as are many things) but not a hazard to cause cancer.

To be safe on a battlefield from the toxicity hazard of depleted uranium dust, don't go on the battlefield until after it has rained.

I didn't read that particular MSDS because there's hardly any argument against what you've said it contains.

I would only question it not being a carncinogen when inhaled. When the MSDS sheets came into existance and started to be promoted sometime around 87 or 88, there were some dishonest motives at work in the writing. There were competing agendas.
