Confirmation that insurance is an unworkable model for paying for almost any commodity.
  

This moral relativism of yours is exactly what lets government take this freedom, then that freedom, until we have lost them all.

But it can be useful for many things.

A catastrophic medical care insurance policy could prove to be well worth it's cost, just like comprehensive and theft insurance on your car, or a homeowners policy that will pay off in the event of a catastrophe.
