Trump Withdraws U.S. Forces From Syria, Declaring

‘We Have Won Against ISIS....our boys, our young women, our men — they’re all coming back, and they’re coming back now!”

Warhawks like Lindsey Graham and Nancy Pelosi voiced harsh criticism of the Commander-In-Chief, stating that the president had acted out of “personal or political objectives”.

Marco Rubio told ABC News:

"This is a colossal, in my mind, mistake. A grave error. This is going to have significant repercussions in the years and months to come."

I salute the president for making good on his campaign promise to end US troop presence in Syria - he now needs continue on this course and pull the rest of US forces out of the other M.E. countries;

Egypt, Afghanistan, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain.

The troops in Afghanistan are coming home too. Let's welcome them...

Unless... (I've been paranoid lately) Trump is going to bring home all our military and use them after the financial collapse to enforce martial law.

That's not a bad idea, but we won't need federal marital law where I live, and enforcers won't be welcome.

Well, some of them, maybe (half of the 14,000 currently deployed there)

BREAKING NEWS.

Furious over the President's decision to withdraw all US troops from Syria, Defence Secretary Jim Mattis RESIGNED!!

That was an honorable thing to do - it makes no sense for the Defense Sect'y to remain a cabinet member if he disagrees with the president's desire to end military intervention in foreign civil wars.

Democrat and Republican warhawks are squawking a message of global doom and destruction - they were probably hoping for a twenty-year US presence in Syria.

Sen. Rand Paul,( R-Ky) applauded Trump's decision to pull all US from Syria.

And Putin thinks Trump has done the right thing...

Is Vlady planning on bringing home the Russian troops too?

Why would one be a good idea and not the other?

No.  Russian troops will remain in Syria.  Russia has strong political ties to Syria.

The Russian gateway to the Mediterranean is their Naval base at Tartus.  This facility is indispensable to Russia.

So Russia will join forces with Syria to fight ISIS.

There is no need for US troops to be put in harm's way. The President understands this, and that's why he ordered the withdrawal.

Let the Russians and the Syrians fight ISIS!  Cool    Smiley   Grin

Bring our troops home!!   Smiley

The Russians will fight Syrians too in order to keep their naval base.

Putin supports a puppet regime in Syria while civil war continues. I don't see this as any more of a "right" thing to do than American intervention in Iraq.

I agree.  American intervention is always wrong, no matter where it is.

Hopefully Trump will start pulling out US troops from other regions as well.

That WAS one of Trump's campaign promises, right?

But Russian intervention is OK as long as there are "strong political ties"?

Why isn't that OK for America? We had "strong political ties" with the Shah of Iran... We have "strong political ties" with South Korea and Japan and lots of European countries too.

The US should not meddle in the affairs of Russia.  Or Syria.  Or ANY country, for that matter.

"Let our affairs be disentangled from those of all other nations, except as to commerce" - Thomas Jefferson

The US has had many "strong political ties" since WW II. That's part of the reason many foreign countries count on the US to intervene in foreign conflicts, thereby sacrificing our young men and women on their behalf.

GW and TJ fully understood the perils of political entanglements, and warned us of them:

"It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliance with any portion of the foreign world" - George washington

"Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none." - Thomas Jefferson

What about when they meddle with our affairs?
