More squawking from the socialist misfit from Queens.  She's fed up with the term "free stuff".  AOC prefers the term "Public Goods".

Not that there's any difference.   It's still taking wealth from one group of people and redistributing it to another.   What we call it is not important.

“It’s not that we deserve it because it’s a handout. People like to say, ‘Oh, this is about free stuff.’ This is not about free stuff.

These are public goods. They’re public goods. So I never want to hear the word or the term ‘free stuff’ ever again ... because I’m tired of already hearing some of these neoliberal folks who are trying to like flip the script on us.

Like when we’re talking about tuition-free public college or when we talk about public housing they say, ‘Oh, well, I don’t want to pay for a millionaire’s kid to go to college.’ That’s their like jujitsu on us that they’re trying to pull.

Public education, libraries, & infrastructure policies are not “free stuff.”   They are PUBLIC GOODS.   And they are worth investing in, protecting, and advancing for all society and future generations."
A classic example of trying to alter reality by changing definitions. Cheesy

Absolutely.  Amend the Constitution and be specific about what rights you want politicians to waive.
The people have a right to know what their elected and appointed servants are doing. If you want to retain a right of privacy in your actions, don't run for office or accept an appointment.

Do you actually like corruption in government?

kaz:  I support the fourth Amendment

Jeff:  OMG, kaz, that means you actually LIKE government corruption!

What a jack ass.

And again, I'm perfectly fine with our waiving Constitutional rights for politicians and bureaucrats, I just want to change the Constitution.  I don't want to ignore it like you do.  I also want it to apply to all politicians, not just Republicans like you do.

The Democrat party and China both just call you bitch at this point

Indeed you are.

kaz:You should have to get a search warrant to find out what your Representative is doing in Washington and how they are spending your money, because the 4th Amendment.

Jeff: No, because they are your Representatives, and they have been granted powers that ordinary Citizens do not possess, have been empowered to tax you and spend your money, they have no expectation of privacy in their official duties or their financial lives... How else will we discover that our tax money is going to line their pockets, or the pockets of their cronies?

I think this is pertinent to our discussion:

https://www.independent.org/news/article.asp?id=12999&utm_campaign=FEE%20Daily&u...

SCOTUS said this:

"First Amendment protections apply only to a public employee’s speech in a private context, not in the exercise of his or her duties. Reads Garcetti: “We hold that when public employees make statements pursuant to their official duties, the employees are not speaking as citizens for First Amendment purposes, and the Constitution does not insulate their communications from employer discipline.”

Read the entire article. In the case of free speech, it's not as simple as Garcetti makes it sound...

And it's not really a good analogy for what we were discussing, which is the supposed license that our elected and appointed officials have to hide their actions from us.

Speaking of speech, if your interested in the origins of PC speech, read this:

https://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/historical-origin-political-correctness

From the article:

“The notion of political correctness came into use among Communists in the 1930s as a semi-humorous reminder that the Party’s interest is to be treated as a reality that ranks above reality itself,” writes Codevilla, Professor Emeritus of International Relations at Boston University.

The semi-humorous reminder went something like this:

“Comrade, your statement is factually incorrect.”
“Yes, it is. But it is politically correct.”

Ocasio should talk to some of these people:

https://fee.org/articles/cuban-doctors-say-they-are-treated-like-slaves/

From the article:

"In response, more than 150 Cuban doctors have now filed lawsuits in Brazilian courts, claiming equality protections under Brazil’s constitution and requesting that they remain in the country as independent contractors with the ability to earn a full salary."

Ocasio gets this one from me too, Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

https://blog.acton.org/archives/113437-hugo-chavez-and-jack-london-on-why-social...

From the story:

"Cordiero’s story went live the same day the Fraser Institute released its annual “Waiting Your Turn” report on healthcare times in Canada. It found that waiting times have only increased in that nation’s single-payer healthcare system:

Specialist physicians surveyed report a median waiting time of 20.9 weeks between referral from a general practitioner and receipt of treatment—longer than the wait of 19.8 weeks reported in 2018. This year’s wait time is just shy of the longest wait time recorded in this survey’s history (21.2 weeks in 2017) and is 124% longer than in 1993, when it was just 9.3 weeks.

Wait times for necessary services stretch as long as 49.3 weeks on Prince Edward Island."
