If something else besides money was taken, it's theft, riiiight?
What was taken? it's a very simple question.

I asked you first. If something else was taken, isn't that theft?

If you ask me a question, I don't dodge, and I have no problem being consistent. I will answer as soon as you do.

This moral relativism of yours is exactly what lets government take this freedom, then that freedom, until we have lost them all.

More went on than simply an exchange of five dollars for five dollars?

Tell me what else happened, and I'll tell you if it was theft.

Taking things without permission is usually theft but not always. I can borrow my friends tools when he isn't home... But he has granted me general permission because we are friends, so I guess that doesn't count.

Equal exchanges, like trading five dollars for five dollars are not theft.

Is that why taxes are not theft?  Because government gives you things of equal value?

If he gave you permission, of course that's not theft.

I keep asking you, what if something other than money was taken? Would that be theft?

No. I only suggest this because money is defined to be fungible, and most people accept that.

If, without my permission, you swap my cat for a cat of equal value, or even a $10,000 cat, I am going to be pissed off and you stole my cat. Cats are not fungible.

If cats were fungible, this would be different. If you swap my cat for a transporter duplicate cat, I argue that this is not theft, because they are the same cat (no exchange was made).

When the Sack's Mom took some of my oranges without getting permission, that was theft. I told you that.

Then you should have no problem answering my question.

In the original scenario, if something besides money was taken, was that theft?
