In a libertarian world, if someone causes the extinction of a species thought to be useless, is there any penalty?

Or suppose the species is not useless. If my farm is overrun by mice because barn owls were driven to extinction, was it my job to protect and raise as many personal barn owls as I needed, or would there be grounds to sue those who destroyed the species? Was I reaping a benefit of free pest control from the owls which I am not actually entitled to, because I must pay for my own pest control?

This moral relativism of yours is exactly what lets government take this freedom, then that freedom, until we have lost them all.

Well, since your questions to libertarians are always intended for anarchists and you think anyone who responds is an anarchist, I'll go with the obvious and say anarchists think it's on you to protect species from extinction

In a libertarian world (whatever that means) everything would be privately owned, and people would make their own decisions about their own animals. and organisms.

To destroy someone else's organism would be a tort and you would be held liable for making restitution to the owner.
