See, Jeff.  This is why you come off looking stupid so often.  You read one sentence of a lengthy post and blurt out in response to it.  The name the big guy meant was Dan Taxation is Theft Berman, which does indicate an understanding of at least one principle of libertarianism.

You know, like how you would vote for a person who changed his name to Bill Taxes are More Important than Property Rights or Anything Else Wilson.

"Taxation is Theft" is the mantra of the radical anarchist fringe.

So far as the current LP candidates are concerned, I'll write in my friend.

What do you think about Bernie v. The Donald?

Will Bernie come across well debating The Donald on Twitter?

Edit: I think Justin Amash can easily better either of them in a Twitter debate about anything. Smiley Smiley Smiley

Why? What's wrong with the current front runner, Vermin Supreme?

That youtube link is Dave Smith and Scott Hornton talking about Jacob Hornberger.

It's a fine discussion, but who is Jacob Hornberger?

Jocob has some solid libertarian ideas:

"Abolish the Federal Income Tax and the IRS."

"Government has no more business in education than it does in religion.  Separate school and state."

"Americans lived without a welfare state for more than a century and prospered without it.   Separate charity and the state."

"People have the right to defend themselves from the tyranny of their own government. That’s what our ancestors had in mind when they enacted the 2nd Amendment."

"America’s massive warfare state, combined with the massive welfare state, continues to head the country toward bankruptcy through the out-of-control federal spending and debt needed to fund this monstrosity."

"Hundreds of unneeded military bases. Coups. Regime-change operations. Invasions. Endless wars of aggression and occupations. Torture. Rendition. Foreign aid to dictators. Sanctions and embargoes. The infliction of massive death, suffering, and destruction.  It all needs to stop."

Wow.  It's rare that I agree 100% on every issue with a candidate, but I agree 100% with Hornberger.

I will vote for Jacob.

Even if the LP doesn't choose him as a candidate?

I'll write him in.  He's the best I've heard so far.  Other LP candidates are weak on some issues.

Lincoln Chafee has better name recognition, but is a democrat posing as a libertarian.

He thinks taxes and wealth redistribution should continue - he just thinks taxes should be lower, and a little less redistribution.

Chafee is an "elite", the son of a Senator who was convinced early on that he was entitled to be at least a Senator too. He'd run as a Mugwump if he thought that would get him elected.

I like Hornberger too. Will the LP nominate him?
