We need to know, but dont really WANT to know.
If you don't want to know, support prosecuting whistle blowers.

What a bad idea.

I think you misunderstand what I was meaning.  I meant it more like: We (as in the general public) want to eat the hot dog, we don't want to know how it's made and whats in it.

Now people like you and I want to know how the hot dog is made and whats in it.  Then we would take that info and form a decision based on that.  People like us think logically not emotionally. The problem with the general public is that, emotion rules, not logic.

That's a pretty good argument for supporting whistle blowers.

Investigative journalist Julian Assange, like journalists in Egypt, is now locked away.
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2019/10/07/pers-o07.html

He's in Belmarsh, a class A prison in London, England's version of Gitmo, where "terrorist" suspects can be held forever without being charged with anything.

This brings to mind Winston Smith in 1984.

Chelsea Manning is also locked away, again.

How did George Orwell know where we were heading?

By 1949, if was pretty clear where England (and most of Western Europe) was headed, and even more clear, to those willing to look at it dispassionately, where the Soviet Union and it's satellite states already were.
