It's much easier to have a civilized free society if every child has an opportunity to get a basic education, and a free market in education (which is still a good thing) simply won't provide that.

I agree. But I think it's unfair to take my money by force to train someone to take my job away because no one should have to be a pool boy, then immediately forget about that when I'm the pool boy instead and revert to, "Tough shit. Free market baby! You lost fair and square hahahahaha!"

This moral relativism of yours is exactly what lets government take this freedom, then that freedom, until we have lost them all.

You have a job that anyone with a basic education could take away from you?

You have a job at all?

I'm not talking about using local property tax revenue to provide free technical school training or free college. Just grades 1-12. If high schools want to provide vocational-technical training as mine did in the '60s, that's fine.

Why not assume so? There are plenty of people who have those sorts of jobs and that's what you're suggesting: Money must be taken from me by force to train people to take my job away.

Do you think that's right?

If someone decides to fire you and hire someone else they think is better qualified or will be more reliable, or will work harder, or will do the same work for less, do you think it's right to tel them they can't?

You already got your basic education, why deny it to another child who wants one too?

Are you saying that if I prefer not to pay for something you want, I am denying what you want to you?  Even though you made the choice not to work to pay for whatever it is?

I paid for my education. My question is why I should be forced to pay for someone else to get trained to take my job. Even if they don't take my job, I'm now in a bidding war and my wages will drop.

With socialism it's just fairness all the time. I'd probably have to share whatever I made above the pool boy so we could make the same. I wouldn't have a problem with this.

With libertarianism I have to be forced to pay to train people to take my job, then when I have no job, it's "Tough shit loser you lost fair and square on the FREE MARKET!!!"

You want a guaranteed job for life with guaranteed benefits and guaranteed wages?

Have you thought about moving to N. Korea?
