Jacob, you said that marriage is a constitutional right.  It is not.  That is all.  Just because it is not in the constitution does not mean it is not a right.

I just want you to get your knowledge right so that you can write your manifesto someday.  Get into the habit.

Libertarians don't really go by the constitution anyways.  They are all into this free-market thing to decide everything.

Freedom is a natural right, and the freedom to marry (or just live with) anyone you choose is simply a part of individual liberty, which is protected by the Constitution, which is why classical liberals created the Constitution and libertarians like it.

You misunderstand the Constitution if you believe it grants rights. It does not, because rights can't be granted.

The Constitution protects rights by strictly limiting the powers granted to the government.

As Jacob made clear, powers not granted to the government don't exist in the U.S.

What are your thoughts?

It seems to be affecting the Chinese very little, as their economy is slowing down for other reasons and they aren't backing down. Apparently being formally labelled as currency manipulators isn't going to work out very well either.

But something has to be done about China:
They are waging economic warfare on everyone they do business with ... If a trade war is not the answer, what better options does the US or the rest of the world have?
It is hurting China as well as the U.S.

Our best option is to free our own economy as much as possible and prepare to defend ourselves.

China is not "backing down", but rather preparing for a shooting war, which is the most usual result of trade wars.

It would have to be a nuke war.

They probably know what is lurking "behind every blade of grass".

Let's hope not.

Anyway, grass grows as buds, not blades... Smiley

Yesterday, the Dow Jones Industrial plummeted 800 points.

In true form, Trump blamed the Fed.    Grin   Grin

"We are winning, big time, against China.  Companies & jobs are fleeing. Prices to us have not gone up, and in some cases, have come down. Our problem is with the Fed. Raised too much & too fast. Now too slow to cut."

His approval numbers really took a hit.   We'll need to see if the Markets recover today.

If they don't, this could be a harbinger of another recession, which would negatively impact Trump's chances for re-election.

All part of the plan Chief.

Not to worry, the Republican branch of the TwoParties has lots of viable presidential candidates waiting in the wings to challenge Trump in the primary.
