What you said above is the whole reason why he fukked up.  You can be smart for a whole lifetime but stupid for one minute.

If he had kept it property then the government can't take that right away.

Once again, happiness is a feeling and not tangible and can neither be given or revoked.

The pursuit of happiness is the right. However you define happiness, whatever you think will make you happy, you have a right to try to make that happen, so long as you respect the rights of others.

Jefferson's Draft of the Declaration went through a process of revision by his fellow committee members and the 2nd Continental Congress, so you can't say "he fukked up", it would be "they fukked up" if you think they did.

Here's a transcript of Jefferson's rough draft:

Do you just not get it Jeff?

An entity can take away your freedom and property but how does it take away your emotions?

Let's say it was the negative, "the pursuit of sadness".

How does a government grant take away your right to be sad?

For the last time, give me the right to own and keep my land and how I feel on it is nobody's business!

You have a right to pursue sadness too, if you want to. I think psychologists have identified that as a mental disorder, but it's still your right to pursue sadness, or happiness.

I thought we were talking about rights?

What do government grants have to do with rights? Most people are delighted to qualify for a government grant! Smiley

Anyway, sure, you have a right to own land, and nobody I know cares whether it will make you happy or sad. It could do either.

They can pass rent control.  They tax my property and worst of all force eminent domain.  It if were live liberty and property then they couldn't touch my land.

The federal government has no grant of power to do anything like rent control. If they followed the Constitution, they would prevent local governments from controlling rent, but alas, they don't follow it.

Eminent domain, despite what SCOTUS said, may only be used to take land (with compensation) for a public use, like a military base, or a courthouse, or a jail, but even then, it must be a matter of necessity (i.e. they can't find any suitable site for a courthouse) and not just convenience.

Don't try to blame Jefferson for these things.

Edit: Taxes are the infringement of property rights that have been permitted so that the government can exist to protect your rights. They are strictly limited by the Constitution, as are the things for which revenue may be expended, but again, alas, our governments are acting outside the law, and you can't blame Jefferson.

No rational reply again? You're getting to be a real one trick pony, a broken record.

Hey, just sayin', your latest faked graphic is a more attractive man, don't you think?

Has a poll been taken yet to determine if Tommy is really an idiot, or not?

I think Indy should start one...
