If I lived alone on my Libertarian island then I wouldn't have to have you tell me which days I can shoot on.

You can shoot any day you like on the Seastead.  But you'll just be shooting at seawater.  That gets boring really quickly.

The Target Drone runs on Mondays and Thursdays. If you pay the operator enough money, he might offer a special "charter" run on a day other than Monday and Thursday.

That would be a nice birthday gift for someone!  Smiley

Did you see the John Stossel thread I posted about Seastead?  Some people tried it in international waters off the coast of Thailand but the Thai government shut them down.

I watched it.

Thailand is ruled by military autocratic leaders.   What a poor choice of countries to park a seastead near.

Seriously.  What the hell were they thinking?

Well, they seemed like hippie type losers and their seastead looked like cheap floating capsule trashcan.  The point is, countries need to respect international laws.

You know what Chief, would you be ok if Libertarians of the world pooled their money together and bought Catalina?  I think that would be ideal.

The problem with seastead is that you are creating an artificial island and you still need to buy 99% of your supplies from the mainland.  Sure, you can grow some shit in greenhouses and do a lot of fishing.

My second problem is that we shouldn't talk about things that will never happen.

Catalina is a great place for a libertarian society.

The airstrip is tricky, though.  Its plenty long - almost 3000 feet, but it has a hump in the middle so on final approach, the runway appears to only be half as long as it actually is.  Shocked

I was standing on the brakes and came to full stop before I even reached mid-field.  Grin

I think the Wrigleys still own it.   I'll bet it would cost billions to buy it.

All wonderful things started as a dream.

If we can't dream, we might as well lay down and die.

When dreams last too long they become fantasy.

The guy who wants to be a rock start and practices guitar 8 hours a day is a dreamer.

The guy who wants to be a rock star and plays the air guitar whenever he can is a fantasizer.

Basically, yes - there is a General Code of Conduct.  It will be made available on the Seastead Event web page.

The only "gun control" tolerated on the Seastead is hitting what you aim at!

Who will enforce violations of the rules?

Good questions.  I'm no lawyer, so I can't really say.   It would NOT be structured like an HOA, because the CoE are volunteers...
Why would any free person listen to or feel bound by the decisions of a volunteer Board of Elders?

For that matter, why would a libertarian of the type that a seastead will attract want to volunteer to serve on a quasi-governmental board?

I'm a night owl, I like to shoot my .50 BMG at 4:00am, and I have my own target drones.

I hope you have good soundproofing in your unit! Smiley
