Did you / will you vote for Trump

Did I vote for Trump?

No, I voted for Gary Johnson.   I was unhappy that Libertarians didn't nominate an actual libertarian ... again.  But I wasn't going to vote for Trump or Hillary and no other third party picked a candidate I could vote for

Will I vote for Trump in 2020?

TBD.

I will vote for Trump if:

1) Libertarians don't nominate a libertarian again.  They probably won't as they haven't nominated a libertarian since 2004

2) I don't object to the libertarian.  If the libertarians clear #1 though and nominate a libertarian, I probably will be OK with the candidate

3) There are no other 3rd party candidates that makes a statement.  I voted for Perot (92) and Nader (08) before who were other third party, so this is possible

--- or ---

1) If the Democrats nominate Pocahontas, I will probably vote for Trump.  She's malignant even beyond the other leftists because of her hatred for Wall Street.  I worked on Wall Street and have an MBA in finance and spent a lot of my career in financial services.  I would like to retire one day

I would have voted for Trump if we were getting the wall.  It's clear now even if he's re-elected, it isn't going to happen

I live in California, so it doesn't matter who I vote for.   California's 55 electoral votes will always go to the democrat candidate.

The dems could run Mickey Mouse in the general election, and Mickey would win California, hands down.

That's kinda sad the more I think about it.   Sad

It really shows how inept the electorate has become.

My Voter Proficiency Exam would remedy that real quick.  We need a voter cleansing.  Smiley

Perhaps instead of your proposed questions about the branches and functions of government, there should just be one question:

Are you a Libertarian?

Yes -> You get to vote.
No -> Sorry you're not competent.

I voted for the Libertarian candidate in the last election and I voted for (oddly) the same exact candidates Kaz did before that.

I can't recall ever voting for a main party candidate, but if I was on my period I might have gone into the voting booth and picked Clinton. Lots of people do that I hear.

I like it!   Smiley

Seriously, there are competent democrat, republican, and independent voters.

Generally speaking, libertarians make better voters because we have a more developed ability to analyze and reason.  (And of course we value liberty and freedom more than any other electorate group)

Liberals, progressives, and republicans often rely on the belief that everyone is equal (redistribution of wealth), party loyalty, emotions (hatred of others with opposing views), and indifference to liberty when they vote.

So everybody that wants to vote says "Sure, I'm a lifelong "progressive", and then you have to let them vote. How do you prove you're really a "progressive"?

It's really a horrible idea, worthy of a tyrant.

Everybody in the Soviet Union was a good Democratic Socialist, so they all got to vote for the Democratic Socialist candidate, who, not coincidentally, was the only one running, because they also had the same sort of rule about who was allowed to run.

I think that perhaps, the thing that makes the Soviet Union version tyranny is that Democratic Socialism was morally wrong because the policies violated rights.

We don't let convicted felons vote for this very reason. That appalls me, but if one thinks of it in a certain way - those people will violate rights - it could make some sense.

There's not a much better way to ask if someone will use the government to violate rights than to ask them if they're a Libertarian.

This is why you have Leftists punching Nazis. The Leftists don't just think of Nazism as a political position; it is actually evil. Libertarians are alike in this way. If you really believe people are rights violators, perhaps stopping them from voting is permissible.

Yes, they violated rights wholesale and in all the worst possible ways.

It's a feature of socialism that it requires tyranny to implement, but socialists don't mind, because they are still dreaming that it will lead to utopian communism, at which time a tyrannical government controlled by tyrants will no longer be necessary, so it will just wither away. Cheesy

Edit: From what you were saying in another thread, one of their "new" plans is to make everyone as stupid as cattle, because if they can do that, then everyone will be too dumb to be anything but a communist!

It's not really a new plan. Killing off "intellectuals" and productive people has been a part of every communist revolution since the first. Cry

These dems almost seem to be trying to convince me to go back to being a rep.

I have to say that all of my local votes will go to Libertarian party candidates.  But if the LP decides to run a non-libertarian as they did in 2016, I will once again vote for Trump.

He's a statist  sumbitch, but at least he's not a deep-statist.

You can't be original when you're close to burnout.
