Which 1040 Form Should I File?

The way I understand it, Form 1040 is for residents, 1040 NR is for Non-resident. 1040 EZ is for residents who are easy, and you may use Form 1040X if you should have filed Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ instead of Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ, or vice versa. 1040 SR is to be used by Seniors who are residents, and over the age of 62.

1040 SR-EZ is for resident Seniors who don't want to itemize.  1040 EZ-NR is for non-residents who don't want to itemize, and are not Seniors.  1040 E-Z (NR) V is for Non Residents on Vacation who do not wish to itemize deductions.

To amend Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ, or to file the correct return, do the following: ... Complete a new or corrected return (Form 1040, Form 1040NR, etc.)

For people who absolutely have no clue which 1040 Form to file, there's Form 1040-WTF.

For people who absolutely have no clue which 1040 Form to file and don't even care, there's Form 1040-WTF/DC.

Simple enough, right?

Governments will always devise ways to deprive an honest man of his money or property, and claim that it's legal.

LOL.  Here's my process:

1) I do my own bookkeeping for my last business.  I sold all the assets, but I'm still getting paid for the sale, so I still have to file business tax returns.  I'll be doing that until I'm paid off.   Owning my own businesses was a great experience, but I'm burned out on it

2) My CPA takes my Quickbooks file and does my corporate tax forms for my S-Corp

3) I plug everything into Turbo Tax for my personal returns.  It decides what forms to file.  I know everything I need to know to understand my personal returns and investments are taxed.  I wouldn't do my corporate returns ever
